All right, I know that many of other blogger in St Martin already wrote about it and that it is not really "fresh" news but I still had to share with some of my readers who do not necessary read other blogs.Yes the tittle of this article is "earthquake"...
Yesterday afternoon around 2.50pm, we sat in the living room at the coffee table, William and I, to have a small light lunch.
We had just started eating when we heard this rumbling sound and started to feel some weird sensation... (No no no !... Don't go there!....)We thought (I assume he though the same as me at that time) that it was one of those heavy concrete truck in front of our house with those (annoying...) construction going one. Or maybe it was one of our doggies scratching and making the coach and the table to move? But fast, very fast indeed, as I already went through few of them, I realised it wasn't a concrete truck nor a doggy scratching but very well an earthquake.
I am thinking very fast (usually), but before I finished to think about this, the rumbling noise and the shaking started to intensify...
Oh Oh!... The table started to vibrate, the bottle of water on top of it started to move, the glasses and the dishes in the cabinet started to jingle .... Oh my god !!! It's a real one this time...
All the others I went through, only last 15 to 30 seconds and were minor. But this one was a real tremor, and a long one. Going one and one, louder and louder, and the ground was shaking stronger and stronger!
I looked at William and I simply said : " I am scared ! Lets get out of the house!..."

I freaked out, and one my two feet I run out... followed by the whole pet family and William! I even forgot I had a broken foot to tell you how much I freaked!
We arrived outside, the ground was still shaking, I looked at the pool and the water was doing some ripples... It was the first time I saw waves in our pool!
Gee... Wave? Did I said waves?... oooh my god!!! our house is ocean front! Or at least "was" since we have a construction site between our house and the ocean now, but it still very close.
I raised my eye to look at the horizon to see if a Tsunami was coming at us (LOL) .... I am serious! I really thought about that!
Then finally after few minutes the rumbling and shaking stopped! Or at least the one regarding the ground as I was still shaking myself.
And there were no tsunami, no damages and no injuries...
Now I looked at those fucking constructions being built in front of my house at they are still standing !... damn! I wish they were down.
Well it was a weird and pretty scary experience this time as when this happen, it is so sudden and unpredicted that you do not know what to do or where to go... I do not like hurricane, but at least you know when it is coming and you can prepare yourself (not at the last minute like I usually do...LOL). Also, hurricane have a name and you can refer to them (or talk to them if they decide to introduce themselves into your life...), but earthquake are very disrespectful and rude... They knock on your door without calling first and they have no name , just numbers: this one was 7.3 at the epicenter in Martinique and 2.4 here in St Martin (see how snaky they are? they even have different numbers just to confuse you LOL)
I hate earthquake!...
Today, in consequence of this earthquake, all the school are closed in the French side for building inspection, to make sure the kids are safe, and there are no cracks in building or gas line or what so ever.
