My turn...

I wonder when it will stop...

Well last week it was William falling down because of Caramel who decided to go after Bobby Lee , and "locking" his two calves and being in pain during few day, and this week it is my turn !

I broke my left foot... How did that happen? Well, I would say "animal's involvement" again...

Our laundry room is an independent room outside our house, just next to our entrance door. I decided to do the laundry (up to here, nothing surprising), so I opened the entrance door to access the Laundry room door. It is when our new little addition to the Family, Miss Bobby Lee, decided to run as fast as she could after a cat (something which is totally prohibited in our household and punishable with the harshest sentence...), and run after it all behind our house toward our neighbour's "twin house".

So what I did, legitimate reaction, I started to run after her, bare foot (as I didn't expected going outside anyway) and finally managed to spot her in the neighbour yard next to their pool.

"Bobby Lee, come here Bobby Lee... leave that cat alone!.. Come one, Bobby Lee! Yes come here... Good girl, yes.... COME HERE !!!!!!!!!!!!!"

So here she start to come back, but very reluctant, and trying to convince here, while continuing to call here and asking her to follow me back, I started to proceed walking, but watching her behind me and not in front of me... Fool I am !!!... I didn't expected that the F**king concrete stairs going up to my neighbour's entrance door were going to decide to "jump" in front of me!!!

I heard "Crack", saw some flashes, and felt like a knife going through my foot... I look down, and saw my middle toe, which is usually well aligned with the other, (Yes I have "Michelangelo's David's Foot"... LOL) totally bent toward the left pushing the two other toe to the outside of my foot...

OUCH, OUCH, OUCH...!!!!

I managed to run back (yes run...) to my house with Bobby Lee, took a bucket, opened the freezer, took as much ice I could find in it, feel up the bucket with it and with water, and go to my terrace to sit on a little bench and put my now broken foot into the freezing water. It is when I started to have some "hot flash", vertigo, bright flashes in my eyes and then... I woke up, all the dog were sit around me looking at me totally confused why I suddenly decided to through myself to the ground and lay on the terrace floor... I had passed out. Not good feeling at all. The pain is still there, my toe is still bent toward the left, and my foot doubled in volume.

All right, cannot do much for now, because I am alone and I won't call an emergency ambulance for that (anyway I know already that I will not go to the doctor as there is not many things to do with a broken foot except immobilising it) so I started to look for..."duck tape"! Yes you read it well, "Duck Tape".

Duck tape can be used for many things, including fixing a broken foot... Don't laugh, it's true. Hey, I grew up in Africa, and believe me, many time there were no doctor nor medical assistance available, so I learned (thanks to my parents) to help myself in any way I could.

So in this case the solution is duck tape. I finally found it in the air conditioner room with all the tools (the house has central air co, and the central unit is located in a small room below the stair case), and I managed to tape my (bent) middle toe between the healthy second and fourth ones, in the matter to "straight it up". And I waited for William to come home, so we could go to the pharmacy and buy an ace bandage (sp), which we did.

So now, my foot is all bandaged up, my three toes are still wrapped up together (not anymore with duck tape but with an adhesive two inches wide bandage, which is in fact, for me, a "pharmaceutical "duck tape" nothing less) and I am walking with difficulties, which is not great in restaurant business. Fortunately, William gave me some help, and hopefully the pain will dissipate soon so I can walk "properly" again and do not require help at work.

I can't wait for "what will be next"...

LOL !!! Jane, if you saw me at that time, I couldn't even think !... Not that I am thinking with my feet but really I was totally out of it and didn't thought about calling you. When it will happen to the next foot I will definitely try to remember, though LOL.
Don't worried, I won't tell Andy anything, the poor fellow is so naive and I certainly don't want to open his eyes to "your" reality ... Hehehe!

Philippe:

Sorry to read about your foot. I hope you heal quickly. Are the babies being good nurses? It's amazing how much a broken bone in your foot can hurt. Are you on any pain meds? Hope you are feeling better.

Hi Jeff,
Yes I am taking some anti-inflamatory tablets. The thing is that I already maybe broke that particular foot ten times in my life already, and never at the same place... It is crazy ! When it is not my left foot or one of its toes, it is one or more of my ribs... I guess I am living dangerously... LOL
Take care,
Philippe

ouch!
I feel your pain!
You could have called me too, you know.
I am always available.
are you sure you don't need x-rays?

These doggies are dangerous , it seems. LOL
You have to be careful. LOL
A cousin of mine just frqctured her sacrum because when she was taking her dog out for a walk, the dog stopped in front of her, she couldn't stop on time. she tried to fall backwards so she wouldn't smash up her face, but she fractured her sacrum..so 6-8 weeks total bed rest.
Yuck!

I hope you heal quickly and please do be careful, especially when running after dogs.
